Just as long as you understand that you’re subscribing to my NOTES. I am not a Substack “writer.” (I do “write” but not at Substack.)*
I’m here entirely for Notes.
Why? Because I LOVED twitter.
For 13 years and 10 months, I loved Twitter. It changed my life and much to the better. Twitter was a mind-blowing exercise in encounters with life. I learned so much there. And not I am not being ironic.
And then, well, you know what happened next.
I left in early December 2022. (The “My pronouns are prosecute/fauci” tweet was the last. fucking. straw.)
I tried using federated social media (aka Mastodon). It didn’t grab or inpsire me.
As for Substack: I’ve had a reader account for a long time.
The NOTES function, however, is a gamechanger. It’s the first twitter-like platform I’ve found.
In short, if you subscribe, you’re subscribing to NOTES. As if you were following me on, say, Twitter.
I don’t plan to charge anyone for anything. Although, gee whiz, you are welcome to buy my books.
Caveats:
It’s unclear how long Notes will live. Do the Substack people know what they’re getting into?
Can SS handle the logistics of a huge SM platform when it started life as a writing platform? Sure, the writing was intended to go social. But….that was for the writers. Suddenly the readers are in the mix and hey! I’m for it. But am uncertain as to how long this happy camp will stand.
